Discounts

The following discounts only apply to virtual classroom courses that cost £185 + VAT and above.
There are no discounts available for distance learning, e-learning and webinars. See our Special Offers page for current offers. 

Please ask for your discount when you book as discounts cannot be given retrospectively.

Charity discount

Get 10% off virtual classroom course bookings if your organisation is a registered charity.

Not to be used in conjunction with any of our other discount plans.


  • Any discounts offered under this scheme are offered entirely at the discretion of the Institute of Publishing (IoP).
  • The IoP reserves the right to revise or withdraw this discount scheme at any time.
  • The discount of 50% only applies to selected courses.
  • This discount may not be used in conjunction with any other discounts or vouchers offered by the IoP.
  • Any discounts offered under this scheme are offered entirely at the discretion of the Institute of Publishing (IoP).
  • Bookings made under this scheme cannot normally be transferred to alternative dates.
  • Once you have confirmed your booking, our normal cancellation charges apply. These are: cancelled more than 4 weeks before the course – no charge; cancelled between 1 and 4 weeks before the course – 50% of full course fee; cancelled within 5 working days of the course – 100% of full course fee.
  • Occasionally, owing to circumstances beyond our control, we may have to cancel a course. If this happens, we will refund your fee*.

New-recruit discount

If, when you confirm your booking:

1) you have been working in a publishing company for six months or less and
2) this is your first publishing job, you can receive 10% off your virtual classroom course booking.

Team discount

Book more than one person from your organisation on the same virtual classroom course, on the same date, and you can benefit from our team discount plan:

  • 10% discount for 2nd and 3rd delegates
  • 15% discount for 4th delegate.

All team members must be booked at the same time to qualify.

Small-business discount

To help small businesses, we offer a standard 10% discount on each virtual classroom course booking. Small businesses are considered to be those with 20 or fewer employees and have their own cost centre.

Freelancer discount

If you work on a freelance or independent basis, and are funding your training yourself, you can claim a 10% discount on any of our virtual classroom courses.

Discretionary discounts

Discounts for students, recent graduates who have yet to find work and staff who have been made redundant. 

If: 
  • you are a student in full time higher education, or
  • you left higher education less than six months ago and are currently unemployed, or
  • you have recently been made redundant from your job and are currently unemployed (or are serving out your notice)

then we may be able to offer you 50% off selected virtual classroom courses. Please note that we may offer a different discount, based on your personal circumstances.

  • Browse our virtual classroom courses to find the course and date you’re interested in.
  • Book using the enrolment form on the relevant web page. At the bottom of the form there is a text box where you can request a discretionary discount.
  • IoP may contact you for supporting evidence to show you fit the criteria to receive the 50% discount.
  • Once the booking is confirmed, we will send you joining instructions and an invoice around four weeks before the course start date.

Student

  • Details of the institution at which you’re studying and the course you’re taking.
  • A declaration from a tutor or other member of college staff able to verify this information.

Unemployed graduate

  • Details of the institution at which you studied, the course you took and the date you left.
  • Evidence that you’re currently unemployed (for example, that you’re claiming benefit).

Staff who have been made redundant

  • Evidence of redundancy (for example, copy of redundancy letter or P45).
  • If you’re not working your notice, evidence that you’re currently unemployed (for example, that you’re claiming benefit).
