Commissioning your training
How does it work?
For most organisations, one or more of the IoP's existing courses will serve as the starting point for your tailored training programme. More information about these courses can be found further down this page.
You can contact us by completing the form below to begin the conversation. We can clarify whether your training needs can be met by one of the current courses, with or without adaptation, or whether something more bespoke is required.
Once we have understood and agreed your needs, we will make a specific proposal. When this is accepted, we commission one of our tutors to prepare and deliver the course, at the agreed time and place.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does team training cost?
We provide a single all-inclusive quotation for your training programme. If delivery arrangements change after the quotation has been agreed (for example, from virtual to face-to-face delivery), any additional expenses will be clearly identified and agreed in advance.
How many people can attend?
The ideal group size depends on the course and the level of interaction. We recommend a minimum of 6 delegates and a maximum of 12 for most team training programmes. This helps to ensure a high level of engagement and individual participation. For webinar-style sessions, larger groups of up to 30 delegates can be accommodated.
Can training be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. We can adapt existing courses to reflect your organisation's processes, workflows, challenges and objectives. We can also develop fully bespoke programmes if required.
Can we combine elements from different courses?
Yes. Many organisations choose to create a tailored programme by combining topics from two or more of our existing courses.
Do you deliver training online or face-to-face?
We offer online, face-to-face and hybrid delivery options. We will recommend the format most suitable for your objectives, staff, budget and location.
What information do you need to provide a quotation?
We need basic information about your training requirements, including the topic, expected number of delegates, preferred delivery format and timescale. We will then arrange a discussion with the tutor to understand your objectives and desired outcomes before preparing a tailored quotation.
How quickly can training be arranged?
It depends on tutor availability and the level of customisation required. Existing courses can often be arranged within a few weeks, while more tailored programmes may require additional preparation time.
Can you deliver training outside the UK?
Yes. We regularly work with organisations around the world and can deliver training online or in person, depending on your requirements.
Do delegates receive a certificate?
Yes. Delegates receive a certificate of attendance following completion of the training.
Can non-publishers benefit from your training?
Absolutely. Many of our clients are from education, government, charities, professional bodies, research organisations and communications. We can adapt publishing skills and best practice to suit a wide range of sectors and environments.
Do you offer consultancy as well as training?
Yes. In addition to training, we can provide consultancy and advice on editorial, production, project management and publishing-related matters.
Can you provide coaching to individuals or groups?
Yes. We can give personal support to individuals or groups using our highly qualified and experienced coaching experts.
